Corporate Social Investment in the communities in which we operate is firmly entrenched in our business model. We align ourselves with the sentiments expressed by former President Nelson Mandela, who said; “Education is the great engine of personal development. It is through education that the daughter of a peasant can become a doctor, that the son of a mineworker can become the head of a mine, that a child of farm workers can become the president of a great nation.”
To this end, we have sponsored the construction of classrooms at 2 schools in the areas in which we operate. Our most recent project was the total renovation of a creche which accommodates 93 children in Mabopane Township. In recognising that neither child nor adult can function optimally if they are hungry, we cover the costs of a daily feeding scheme. We have also equipped the creche with educational toys, provided each child with a pair of shoes and established bursary opportunities. We are committed to sustaining our initial endeavours with ongoing maintenance and upgrades of the facility where required. Going forward, it is our intention to sponsor similar projects in other areas.
